Brushes: An iPhone Application

IPhone has always been fun to use and the wide range of applications available with iPhone has made it even more fun. You can find high-tech applications at a single touch which makes the life most exciting. A similar very exciting and high-tech iPhone application is Brushes. With Brushes you can draw and paint high quality and class images with only a few touches. It can also be said that you would always have a 3.5” canvas in your pocket on which you can paint anything with highest precision and quality at so ease. The number of drawing, editing and merging tools has made the painting so easy that it can be used by anyone who likes to draw and paint for fun and it provides so good quality of output images and movies that it can be used by any professional artist for doing professional drawings and paintings.

Brushes provides a range of brushes and drawing tools with the help of which paintings can be done so easily and with so neatness. It is equally good and friendly with an expert painter and a beginner. We can work in unlimited number of layers with Brushers for example a background layer, foreground layer, accessories layer etc. so that no layer gets messed up with the other. We can copy and paste different photos in separate layers. It also provides the option of inserting a new layer between two layers and of deleting a layer without disturbing others. The quality of graphics is so amazing that its level of correctness seems hard to believe.

Another very unique feature of Brushes is that, they provide high quality and extremely reactive zooming function that allows the zooming from 70% up to 1600% which is exceptionally valuable. Moreover, it provides unlimited Undo and Redo options. Brushes can download any images through Wi-Fi and then these images or photos can be resized using brushes up to six times of the original size with exactly the same image quality as that of original image. The quality of the image produced by Brushes is so good that it can be exported to any other desktop application at very high resolutions i.e., up to 1920 x 2880 and the quality of exported image never gets choked. Brushes also allows to combine the edited images to make a high quality movie up to resolution of 1920×2880 pixels. This movie can be saved using QuickTime extension to be played anytime and anywhere. This movie can be transferred through Wi-Fi to other desktop computers and can be used in any other applications with so good picture quality.

It does provide so good and print quality images that Brushes has even surpassed so many desktop applications because of its ease of use. The popularity of Brushes can be well identified from the fact that the June 2009 edition of the New York times cover page was designed through this iPhone application. For a sample, let’s have a look at one of the paintings produced through Brushes.

Misplaced? Use Iphone Map +

Iphone never leaves its people alone. Everything and anything that has been designed by Apple, is focused on the people who have loved iphone and its applications all the way from 2G to upcoming 5G. Keeping this factor in mind, another such application is Map +. Well, if people fear getting lost while being in a new place, they can easily install this updated, new, free version of the Map. It uses Google Maps and has all the features of previous Maps App of iOS. This is a continuous workable offline mode Map App.

Locating a particular place is no more a hectic for people. This application enables them to customize the buttons that overlay the map, with which the location can be benchmarked and saved for future consultation. Moreover, the most updated facility is the location alarm system. People can set an alarm for a particular place and when that place is nearby, the alarm rings. It contains many other options like bookmarking, tracking, labeling, route transits etc.

Almost, 80% people of the world are connected through social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. This App is compatible with the Twitter software, in which people can locate their friends. Where they currently are, where are they posting from etcetera? Also Spammers can be abused and blocked by locating their position and informing Twitter management.

Although, all this has added to the convenience of mankind, yet there are some limitations to this application. The labels, pin bookmarks and route bookmarks are limited to only 1. It becomes difficult to manage if more than one label is needed to be marked. Sometimes, more than one bookmark is required which is not possible in this App. The route transits can be marked to the maximum of two and Tracking is possible till two kilometers only. If the target crosses the boundaries of two kilometers, it is lost immediately. But these limitations can be unlocked too quite easily, but this option is not for free. It has to be bought for $3 and then, all these limitations can be enjoyed to its full.

Iphone, no doubt has made the life of mankind extremely easy and convenient. Everything is just a few touches away from the person. Still it is not the end of the inventions. These limitations are a way towards the success of new applications and it is possible to overcome them by putting some extra effort. Iphone, is a second name of innovation and is climbing the ladder of success very rapidly.

Portable iPhone Charger

If you have a smart phone but without any battery power then nothing could be worse than this for your phone. As you see that only 20% battery is remaining then pop up the battery as soon as you can. If you have portable iPhone charger then it may help you a lot in this situation. In the market many kind of portable iPhone charger are available to keep your phone charged all the time if you are away from your wall outlet or USB, but the problem is which portable charger is the best. In this article I have discussed about four portable iPhone chargers.

Standard Car Charger

Car chargers usually come with the iPhone and are popular more than any other portable charger. Its mean most of the iPhone user have a standard car charger from the beginning.  Car charger is a basic portable charger even than its uses are limited the reason is you can only get advantage of this charger if you are around your car.

Battery powered charger

Battery powered chargers are such a powerful mobile chargers that transfer the power to your iPhone from standard batteries such as 2AA. They are not just cheap but also easy to charge all the time. Just pop up the batteries and now you are ready to leave your home. One advice is that if you have decided to use battery powered charger for regular uses then buy rechargeable batteries. This will save a handsome amount of money and will be helpful in your countless trips.

iPhone charging case

Charging cases provide power to your phone and it is very easy to use. These chargers are basically iPhone cases which are with build in batteries. This case cover the most of the iPhone body, actually this case is charged when its charging cord is plugged into the computer’s USB port. These iPhone charging cases protect from any damages to the iPhone by improving the battery life.

iPhone solar charger

iPhone solar charger is very useful for those users who remain mostly outdoor. iPhone solar charger is available in two types one is off device solar charger and the other is solar charging cases. Most of the solar chargers are capable to charge from standard USB, it is obviously the best way to keep your iPhone charged especially when there is no sun. Without any need for batteries you can add power to your iPhone continuously.

Increasing Ram for iPhone 3GS

Apple says when you don’t have an iPhone you don’t have an iPhone.  When you own an iPhone you want to explore it completely and access all its dimensions available to you.  The iPhone 3gs is one of the most durable and amazing high technology cell phone currently available in the market. It has a variety of features that are an amalgamation all cell phones that the apple company has designed up till now.  It has a memory storage space even larger than the blackberry though it is considered more to an insignificant level.  The latest model of iPhone 4 GS is also an advancement of the 3gs with many features simply modified, making the 3gs model most popular in the market.

The iPhone 3 GS has dimensions of 115.5 x 62.1 x 12.3 mm and weighs about 135 grams. Only touch system is inbuilt in this device and a small button at the bottom helps you go back from whichever application you have accessed. 16 bit colors have been used the camera has a pixel of 3.5. You can transfer data from this device through GPRS, EDGE, WLAN, Bluetooth and USB. The standard battery time of the 3gs for stand-by is up to 300 hours, for talk time it is Up to 5 h (3G) and for music play the time is Up to 30 h. high quality video streaming and movie downloading has been made easier with this phone and now you can watch your favorite movies for hours. The model is only available in white and black colors. Headphone sets and chargers also come along with the complete package.

The iPhone has a total memory of 8GB but you can always increase it if you require more memory space.  When you download a lot of applications the phone tends to become crowded and then becomes slow in performance eventually. So in order to increase the space and improve the speed of your phone there are some simple steps that you need to follow to add the RAM to your iPhone. First of all what you need to do is that you should minimize all your applications by going to the home option in your 3gs. When you double click on the option the phone displays the complete range of applications that you can access. It also shows the amount of processor’s owner being taken up by them. Now close the applications that are currently running on your phone but do not close the one that is connecting you to the internet. For exiting an application always tab on the application and then cancel it.

This way your phone will perform faster and smoother and you will be able to use the applications more smoothly rather than the phone getting stuck again and again. There is no way that you can add up more ram but all you can do is deleting the unnecessary stuff that is crowding up your phone and causing the jam.

Tips: iPhone Battery Draining Too Fast?

Let’s face it people: whether it be excessive sunlight exposure, too much use, or what, after a while your iPhone battery does start to drain much faster. Below are a few tips to maximize your iPhone’s battery life and keep it from draining as fast as it normally would.

style="padding-top: 20px;">

1. Wi-Fi

href="http://www.ip4help.com" rel="attachment wp-att-19788">src="http://www.iphonealley.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/wifi.png" alt="" title="wifi" width="160" height="57" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-19788" />If you ever go to the Wi-Fi page on your iPhone, you’ll see the available networks are constantly refreshing. That just goes on to prove that even when you’re not browsing with Wi-Fi, your battery is being consumed. So when you know you’re not going to be using Wi-Fi (on a network-less plane, on the road, etc.) turn it off. How? Settings—>Wi-Fi—>Turn Off

style="padding-top: 20px;">

2. Manage your push notifications

href="http://www.ip4help.com" rel="attachment wp-att-19791">src="http://www.iphonealley.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/notifications.png" alt="" title="notifications" width="160" height="84" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-19791" />You may not have known how many applications that you’ve allowed to send push notifications to you until you actually know. The problem is, push notifications do drain your battery. So go Settings—>Notifications and from here you can decide which applications can and cannot send you notifications or turn them all of altogether.

style="padding-top: 20px;">

3. Auto-lock rather than power-off

Believe it or not, I’ve seen some iPhone owners think it makes more sense to turn off their iPhone when not using it for extensive amounts of time (a day or so). Truth is, it takes up more battery to power up your iPhone after it’s been turned off; it would make more sense just to auto-lock (duh!), which doesn’t consume any battery.

style="padding-top: 20px;">

4. Use Airplane Mode

href="http://www.ip4help.com" rel="attachment wp-att-20089">src="http://www.iphonealley.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/airplane.png" alt="" title="airplane" width="238" height="75" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-20089" />Not only does not having Airplane Mode enabled pose a threat for planes, it also poses a threat for your battery when you’re in low or no-coverage areas. Turning on Airplane mode disables the iPhone’s connection with your cellular network, which means you also will not be able to receive calls/texts. Not a bad price to pay at all, especially if 1) you’re battery will last longer and 2) you wouldn’t even need those in low/no-coverage areas. To turn on: Settings—>Airplane Mode On

style="padding-top: 20px;">

5. Screen Brightness

href="http://www.ip4help.com" rel="attachment wp-att-20090">src="http://www.iphonealley.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/iphone-brightness.jpg" alt="" title="iphone-brightness" width="163" height="75" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-20090" />I’ve seen some people who refuse to realize that the brightness of their screen drains the batter pretty darn fast. They’ll keep the brightness of their screen cranked up to the maximum, only to respond that they “like it that way”. Yeah, I’m sure you’ll [won't] like it when your batter drains. You can adjust the brightness of your screen using a simple slider, and can also turn on Auto-Brightness, which will automatically switch the lighting when needed. To do so: Settings—>Brightness—>Slider or Auto Brightness On

style="padding-top: 20px;">

6. Manage Equalizer

href="http://www.ip4help.com" rel="attachment wp-att-20091">src="http://www.iphonealley.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/EQ.png" alt="" title="EQ" width="236" height="75" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-20091" />The equalizer feature for music can be tempting, but it also does drain battery. You can turn your equalizer off, or flat (for those of you who have set the equalizer for particular songs in iTunes). To do so: Settings—iPod—>EQ—Off or Flat

style="padding-top: 20px;">

7. Bluetooth

href="http://www.ip4help.com" rel="attachment wp-att-20092">src="http://www.iphonealley.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/bluetooth.png" alt="" title="bluetooth" width="233" height="75" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-20092" />Another something I’ve seen people do is keep their bluetooth on regardless if they’re using it or not. Bluetooth wastes battery, people! You can turn off your iPhone’s bluetooth when not using it by: Settings—>General—>Bluetooth—>Off

style="padding-top: 20px;">

8. Location Services

href="http://www.ip4help.com" rel="attachment wp-att-20093">src="http://www.iphonealley.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/location.png" alt="" title="location" width="203" height="96" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-20093" />Turn off location services when you don’t need it: Settings—>General—>Location Services—>

style="padding-top: 70px;">

9. Fetch

href="http://www.ip4help.com" rel="attachment wp-att-20094">src="http://www.iphonealley.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/fetch.png" alt="" title="fetch" width="129" height="75" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-20094" />I personally like push for my mail accounts on my iPod. They’re a way for me to instantaneously receive audible notification when new mail comes in. However, you may want to fetch data less frequently or even manually. To do so: Settings —> Mail, Contacts, Calendars —> Fetch New Data—>Manually or Hourly

style="padding-top: 20px;">

10. Temperature

href="http://www.ip4help.com" rel="attachment wp-att-20082">src="http://www.iphonealley.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/temp.jpg" alt="" title="temp" width="160" height="43" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-20082" />You certainly don’t want to fry your battery or freeze it. So, keep your iPhone or iPod Touch in an environment around 72 degrees Fahrenheit. Don’t let the temperature stray too far up or down and don’t leave your phone in the car when it’s hot outside. Just some basic knowledge.

If your iPhone, iPod Touch or onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.ipadngravy.com');" target="_blank" title="iPad" href="http://www.ip4help.com">iPad is still in warranty, (meaning you haven’t owned the device in its new state of being for over a year), or if you have AppleCare, Apple does replace your device’s battery for you – only if the battery drops below 50% of its initial capacity. If you’re out of warranty, and want to replace your battery, you can DIY or pay Apple. (details onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.apple.com/batteries/replacements.html');" target="_blank" href="http://www.ip4help.com">here)

There are also a large amount of applications available on the app store with the above tips and management. Most will also let you know the percentage of battery you have left, even though the iPhone can already do that, and will let you know how much of something (e.g Music, Videos, 2D Game, 3D Game, etc.) you can do before your battery dies. And of course, you can get a few external batteries – there are a ton available for the iPhone and iPod Touch, for pretty good prices. A simple onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=en&source=hp&q=external+batteries+iphone&pbx=1&oq=external+batteries+iphone&aq=f&aqi=g-v3g-j2&aql=undefined&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=396l6143l0l38l21l3l0l0l2l1638l11159l2-1.1.1.1.8.1.1l15&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=eae32d00b8f22fb0&biw=1280&bih=653');" target="_blank" href="http://www.ip4help.com">search on Google should return with a good amount of hits.

I obviously didn’t do any of the above with my old iPod Touch 2nd generation, considering its battery drains, when I’m lucky, in 10 minutes – and I probably carelessly left it in the car on hot, sunny days. Though, now I really won’t make those mistakes again. Despite doing all of the above, if you’re device still dies very quickly, then you may want to resort to setting up a onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/');" target="_blank" href="http://www.ip4help.com">Genius Bar appointment at your local Apple store.

Any other tips that have worked for you?

Microsoft is square, Apple is roundrect, Google is…?

Microsoft is square, Apple is roundrect, Google is...?

Clayton Miller’s Interuserface takes a look at the iconic shapes behind today’s biggest mobile companies, and while Apple, iPhone, and iPad are obviously roundrects (rounded rectangles), their competition is just as geometrically aligned:

Microsoft’s Metro UI owns the square. Apple has a corner on the roundrect, from the Springboard launcher to the iPhone hardware itself. Nokia, despite its late entry with MeeGo’s Harmattan UI, found the squircle unclaimed and ran with it beautifully. Palm has used the circle from the early days of PalmOS, and in WebOS, HP continues the tradition with care (one might even note that both Palm and HP structure their wordmarks around the circle).

Zune, obviously, couldn’t hold the squircle, and neither Bada nor RIM could take the square or roundrect as their own. Interestingly, Google’s Android has no iconic hold on any simple shape (nor do Facebook or Amazon for that matter, who have elected to stick with letters).

October Release for iPhone 5 and Redesigned iPad 3

The rumor mill is changing its predicted date for two of Apple’s highly-anticipated, upcoming devices yet again. “Industry sources” have revealed to onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.digitimes.com/news/a20110701PD216.html');" target="_blank" href="http://www.ip4help.com">DIGITIMES that both the iPhone 5 and onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.ipadngravy.com');" target="_blank" title="iPad" href="http://www.ip4help.com">iPad 3 are going to be available for purchase in October of this year. Echoing other rumors, sources say that there will be a September announcement

Rumors of two distinct iPhone models being introduced this year were rebuked. Contrary to other reports, we may not see an iPhone 4S sold alongside iPhone 5. In all likeliness, there will only one device available in various storage capacities.

Apple is shooting for a production run of 6-7 million iPhone devices in the third quarter. When taking every iPhone model being sold in the calendar year into account, expectations are set at 85 million shipped once 2011 is over.

Since iPad 2 launched in March, it would be odd for a new version to be released in such a short timeframe. However it is not totally unlikely that Apple is aiming to change the iPad’s refresh cycle from quarter one to quarter three or four so holiday buyers are more compelled to purchase the brand new tablet. In the new tablet marketplace that Apple had reinvigorated, competitors are not following a strict schedule for tablet hardware refreshes.

If iPad 3 is released in October, then sources are pointing to it following in the second iteration’s thinning and lightening footsteps, possibly making it the thinnest 9.7″ tablet on the market. More interestingly, its display may take a step towards Retina Display with a pixel depth per inch doubling to 250dpi. Though that is not quite Retina Display as Steve Jobs defined it, he had said that 300dpi was the minimum for pixel space to become imperceptible. Nonetheless, it would still be a step in the retina direction.

At this point, it seems like a September announcement is set in stone based on the amount of reports suggesting it. Practically everything else has shaped itself to become an inconsistent detail. So rumor mill, how about we wait until the September keynote so you can stop contradicting yourself?

Boxwave Armor Case Review for iPod Touch 4th Generation

How any of you don’t really mind a case that doesn’t look real nice, but will protect your iPod Touch undoubtedly? Boxwave didn’t really take looks into account when designing their onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.boxwave.com/apple-ipod-touch-4g-4th-generation-cases-and-covers/apple-ipod-touch-4g-4th-generation-armor-case/bwpdd/pf-zkfz');" target="_blank" href="http://www.ip4help.com">Armor Case for the iPod Touch 4th generation; it’s not something you’d want to go show off, but it will definitely make sure your device stays scratch/dent-free.

This aluminum case, with a metallic, modern finish, is built solely based on the fact that your iPod Touch is vulnerable to all kinds of hazards: falls, dust, etc. From the bottom to the top, it is built strongly in order to protect your iPod Touch at all costs, should you drop it. Along with that, the inside of the case is layered with a soft foam-like material, which will prevent the aluminum from scratching your iPod. In other words, it’s got armor everywhere, hence the name, the Armor Case.

Getting your iPod into the case is rather simple. I’ve never seen this method before: the top (when held flat) folds off the bottom piece, very much like a door with a hinge. This opens up the space in between the two, connected pieces, so you can then place your iPod inside. Closing was an issue for me at first, but this time around not because of my invisible shield, which would normally prevent a case from closing because of the extra bulk it adds. Where the two pieces of the case lock together, (not the hinge that connects the two together) there is a sort of locking mechanism. An extra part juts out, which then fits into a part on the other part of the case. href="http://www.ip4help.com" rel="attachment wp-att-20070">src="http://www.iphonealley.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/armor1-2.jpg" alt="" title="armor1 (2)" width="640" height="480" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-20070" /> For me, these two wouldn’t click together. As a result, the case would not close properly. However, after some tries, they finally locked. It turns out that the front piece of the case was bent at a slightly different angle than usual, which brings me to my next point.

Next point —> The culprit behind the wrong angle is the fact that the front piece of the case is way too flimsy. With a single accident when the case is open, the front part could easily snap. However, that’s not a problem when closed. The locking mechanism has its own faults too. Due to the actuality that it juts out further than the edge of the case, it constantly pokes into your hand when holding your iPod Touch in portrait mode with your left hand. This does get pretty annoying, and painful, after awhile./> href="http://www.ip4help.com" rel="attachment wp-att-20072">src="http://www.iphonealley.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/armor1-300x225.jpg" alt="" title="armor1" width="300" height="225" class="alignright size-medium wp-image-20072" />/> Included along with the case are two other accessories, both of which could come in handy. I’ve always missed the opportunity to seem official because I’ve never used a belt clip before. The Armor Case makes it simple. A screw, that can be removed on-demand, screws in to a designated area on the back of the case, which can then attach to a belt clip. The belt clip can be swiveled 360 degrees. The other accessory also fits around the screw. This is a lanyard/string that can be used for carrying your iPod.

Despite the few gripes that I came across, the case is designed extremely well; I could easily pick it over an Otterbox, although you do get a bit more protection should you target="_blank" href="http://www.ip4help.com">go down that road. Either way, it’s worth checking out if you want a durable, heavyweight case that you can rely on to successfully protect your iPod Touch 4th generation. The onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.boxwave.com/apple-ipod-touch-4g-4th-generation-cases-and-covers/apple-ipod-touch-4g-4th-generation-armor-case/bwpdd/pf-zkfz');" href="http://www.ip4help.com">Armor Case is available for $27.95, and in two different colors: jet black and silver.

iPad 2 Jailbreak Arrives Early

The long awaited JailbreakMe 3.0 for the onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.ipadngravy.com');" target="_blank" title="iPad" href="http://www.ip4help.com">iPad 2 was leaked on Saturday, but not by Comex, the hacker who has been working on the new jailbreak for several weeks now. On June 11, Comex hinted that he had discovered a new  exploit when he published a picture of a ski run labeled “PDF” on jailbreakme.com.  The hacker later confirmed that he was indeed working on an iPad 2 jailbreak  after he posted a long explanation via  onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.twitlonger.com/show/b71ht7');" target="_blank" href="http://www.ip4help.com">Twitlonger.

On Saturday morning a private beta tester released a YouTube video and download link for an iOS 4.3 jailbreak, and several tech blogs  posted images showing Cydia 1.1.2 running on the iPad 2.

This is not the official version of JailbreakMe 3.0 by Comex , but if you want to take the leap early, here’s how to jailbreak your iPad 2  courtesy of onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.redmondpie.com/ipad-2-jailbreak-for-ios-4.3.3-jailbreakme-3.0-leaked-in-the-wild-video/');" target="_blank" href="http://www.ip4help.com">Redmond Pie:

Step 1: Launch Mobile Safari and navigate over to the URL as shown in the video (posted beloow).

Step 2: Once you’ve done that, Safari should automatically close, that’s completely normal. You should now see a Cydia icon on your Home Screen, with a progress bar, much like any other official app while it’s downloading.

Step 3: Once the Cydia icon disappears, reboot your device. Once it powers back up, which could take a little bit longer than usual, your iPad 2 should be jailbroken.

Remember this is unofficial so back up your iPad 2 before doing anything, and follow the video, links and instructions at your own risk.

Google brings Pi, Apple beats them to Nortel LTE patent punch?

Apple part of $4.5 billion Nortel patent acquisition

Some more information has come to light about the Nortel patent auction, which saw a consortium that included Apple win big, and Google get frozen out. According to Reuters, however, Google had a lot of along the way:

“It became clear that they were bidding with the distance between the earth and the sun. One was the sum of a famous mathematical constant, and then when it got to $3 billion, they bid pi,” the source said, adding the bid was $3.14159 billion.

“Either they were supremely confident or they were bored.”

Brun’s and Meissel-Mertens constants aside, it came down the the Apple “Rockstar” team, which included RIM, Microsoft, and others, and Google’s Rangers. Google stayed in until the price rose about $4 billion. While they won’t say much on the record, according to TechCrunch‘s MG Siegler, Google is privately furious. Compared to Apple and the other mobile platforms, Google has an incredibly weak mobile patent portfolio and, if the Nortel deal goes through, this puts them in an even more vulnerable position.

Robert Cringely thinks Google will try to stall the deal through litigation and anti-trust complaints, and while citing only anonymous sources, says:

Apple put up $2 billion for outright ownership of Nortel’s Long Term Evolution (4G) patents as well as another package of patents supposedly intended to hobble Android.

FOSSpatents reminds that there’s a hearing scheduled for July 11, and it’s possible more solid information will become available at that time.

iPad 2 Jailbreak beta leaked, best to stay away

Jailbreakme.com updated, been far too long working on iPad 2 Jailbreak?

Last night the iPad 2 Jailbreak that Comex has been working on for JailbreakMe.com was leaked online by a beta tester, and this morning it’s all over the web in post and video form. And we’re not going anywhere near it.

We’ve waited this long for an iPad 2 Jailbreak, we might as well wait the last few days for a well tested, verified, proper release version. Hacking iPad 2 was most likely non-trivial for Comex, and messing around with leaked betas seems needlessly risky, unless you have more time, spare iPad 2s, and urges to tinker than you know what to do with.

Jump into the Jailbreak Forum if you absolutely have to mess around with it, but otherwise hold stead and lets hope the real JailbreakMe.com launches soon in all its PDF exploiting, iPad 2 Jailbreaking glory.

Google in talks to buy Hulu?

The LA Times is reporting that Google is in preliminary talks to acquire none other than Hulu. The information comes from anonymous sources close to the situation. Google is supposedly interested in buying Hulu due to the huge potential for advertising revenue. The report also claims that Google will face stiff competition from Yahoo and Microsoft.

Hulu has content from a number of current TV shows and has apps available for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad that are based on a monthly subscription model, though it is currently US only.

If Google does buy Hulu,maybe it would even improve things? Google does tend to give content away for free in return for a user’s personal data!

App for That: How to sync task lists between iPhone and Android

There are hundreds of thousands of iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad apps for just about everything — so how come the one you need, the one you know just has to be there, is so hard to find? Enter TiPb’s new weekly feature where staff and readers alike sort through the App Store and help you find just the right App for That. This week, Jeremy asks:

Is there an app that would allow me, an iPhone 4 user, and my wife, an Android user, to share a task list? Help!

To see our solution for Jeremy, follow along after the break!

Wunderlist [Free - iTunes link] is a task management app that syncs between iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, and Windows. Syncing is seamless and in the cloud. If you’re concerned about security, Wunderlist has got you covered with SSL 128 bit encryption over HTTPS.

Once you sign up with a free account and download the apps onto your desired devices, you’re ready to start sharing lists – and with push notifications, you’ll never forget what you need to do.

Not only does Wunderlist have great functionality, but it looks good at the same time. You can even choose between different backgrounds to customize the app to fit your personality. Perhaps shopping is a chore, but you’ll love crossing things off your Wunderlist!

Anyone else have any App for That suggestions for Jeremy? Let him — and all of us — know in the comments.
