Chinese Rumors Point To 4G-LTE iPhone 5, “Simplified iPhone 4″

Two new entries in the neverending rumor mill about the next generation of iPhone. Analyst Brian White of Ticonderoga Securities href="http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/11/08/03/china_telecom_predicted_to_sell_iphone_5_simplified_iphone_4_in_oct_.html">sent out a note to investors saying that China Telecom would stock the iPhone 5 and a “simplified iPhone 4″ in October. He called the deal imminent, and the ”more economical version” of the iPhone 4 was designed to help Apple pick up more market share in China.

Meanwhile, href="http://www.gizchina.com/2011/08/04/china-mobile-confirms-gen-iphone-4g/">GizChina is reporting (via href="http://9to5mac.com/2011/08/04/china-mobile-claims-a-4g-td-lte-deal-with-apple-for-next-iphone/">9to5) that China Mobile will bring 4G LTE to the iPhone 5:

China Mobile claims that it has reached an agreement with Apple to bring to bring its 4th generation TD-LTE mobile data connection to the next generation iPhone. The claim isn’t exactly new news as it was originally reported back in May, and doesn’t specify which model of iPhone it will be in, but could hint at the next generation iPhone actually being an iPhone 4S type device, with updated 4G capabilities, rather than a totally new iPhone 5 design.

The general feeling in the techsphere is that Apple wasn’t going to go with 4G for this generation of iPhone due to it being a relatively new technology — but given that this iPhone release has been pushed back substantially from when we all thought it would be announced, maybe that’s given Apple enough time to iron out the kinks.
