How’s this for an almost-definitely-false rumor for a Tuesday afternoon? Taiwanese website United Daily News is claiming that Apple has received samples of a 7.85-inch, that would have the same 1024×768 resolution as the iPad.
Apparently AU Optronics and LG Display have sent the samples to Apple in preparation for the “iPad Mini” to launch early next year.
Look, I know that the Kindle Fire is exciting and small and everything else. But I think we would all do well to remember what Steve Jobs said about a the iPad Mini: that they’d be so small as to be useless “unless you include sandpaper so users can sand down their fingers.”
