Bug Unearthed That Might Pave Way for iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak?

Those awaiting patiently for an untethered jailbreak of iOS 5 received some good news this morning. Chronic Dev Team’s pod2g has unearthed a bug in iOS 5 that he believes makes it possible for an untethered jailbreak. While a release is not coming soon, he is hard at work at making this happen and this sounds like encouraging news.

We had heard previously from the Dev Team’s MuscleNerd that they had a href="http://www.everythingicafe.com/iphone-4s-and-ipad-2-jailbroken-on-ios-5/2011/10/28/">preliminary jailbreak of the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S on iOS 5. At that time, there were “huge missing pieces and plenty of work left“.

Perhaps this new find will help advance the public release of an iOS 5 untethered jailbreak. Right now, it’s still too early to tell, but we’ll take the good news.
