How’s this for a hell of a rumor? According to Deutsche Bank analyst Chris Whitmore, Apple will take this September as an opportunity to release two iPhones — a minor iPhone 4S upgrade, and a major one in the shape of an iPhone 5. Say what?
According to Whitmore, the iPhone 4S will go for $350 unsubsidized and unlocked, and much like the iPad, will have a pay as you go data/voice system. He thinks this will allow Apple to penetrate the gap left behind by the woes of Nokia and Blackberry. It would also help with the international scene, especially where prepay plans are the norm.
Oh, I totally don’t buy it for a second, but it’s an interesting diea.
