Back in March, the blogosphere was afire with word that Apple’s high speed Java app boost that was available in iOS 4.3 didn’t work on web apps saved to the home screen. This tool, called Nitro, simply wasn’t enabled for full screen web apps, causing some consternation, and then everyone promptly forgot about it. Now, months later, it appears that Apple has remedied this problem in iOS 5. Now, if you have a web app saved to your homescreen, you should see a major boost, same as if you ran it through Safari in previous iterations.
The Nitro engine is now set up not just to run through Safari.app, but also Web.app, the application that full web apps use to function.
