AT&T Starts Offering Standard iPhone Insurance

Previously, if you wanted to insure your iPhone against damage with AT&T it would cost you a positively obscene amount — $14 a month with a $199 deductible. Yeah, that’s right, as much as a new iPhone on contract. Well, that’s about to get slightly more affordable. According to MacRumors, AT&T will now include iPhones in their standard  ”Mobile Insurance Program” starting on July 17th:

*Please Note: AT&T Mobile Insurance Update: Effective July 17, 2011, the Apple iPhone (all models) will be eligible for coverage with the AT&T Mobile Insurance program (formerly Wireless Phone Insurance). Enrollment restrictions apply. Customers can only enroll within 30 days of a new activation or upgrade, prior activations or upgrades outside of 30 days are not eligible.

Which means that you’ll pay$4.99 a month, with a $50 or $125 deductible.

Or else you could just use SquareTrade, who offer $99 for two years of coverage, and only $50 for deductible.
