Late last week we posted about a new app from Google called Photovine — an app which has now gone live, but you can’t get into without an invite. You can now go to the Photovine website and throw your name in a hat to try and get an invite, but without being let in, the newly available free app is unfortunately more or less worthless.
Because the service is invite only for now — and is a social networking app — we’re in a bit of a Google+ situation. We’d love to get in and play around, but even if we did, no-one we know would be there.
However, once people start getting into the app, it sounds like it should be fun. You start a “vine” by taking a photo and adding a caption, and then your friends upload images riffing on the same theme. Sounds great to me, if only I could get in.
