If you’re like me, you probably have a handful of Apple cables, all of which have split at exactly the same point: the weak spot right near the device plug. My MacBook Pro cable and a bunch of iPhone and iPad cables have all split at exactly the same point — and usually at the world’s most awkward time.
A new Kickstarter project aims to stop that from happeningy. The href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1499810396/mysaver-protection-for-your-ipad-iphone-and-ipod-c">MySaver is a metal and silicone case which locks around that incredibly fragile part of the cord, giving you a way to grip without putting undue stress on the join.
It comes in two flavors: a complete replacement cable called the MySaver: Pro, which will set you back a $10 donation if you’re one of the first 100, or $19 after that, and the MySaver:DIY which snaps over your existing cable, and costs just $8.
I’ve split enough of my iPhone cables through just general use that this sounds like a pretty good idea to me, and probably worth dropping $10 on.
