Analysts Weigh In On iPhone 5

With the rumor mill speeding up to a pace so fast that it makes our faces bleed, the vaguely respectable world of analysts have decided to weigh in on Apple’s upcoming product.

href="http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/11/08/02/apples_fifth_gen_iphone_could_be_bigger_upgrade_than_expected.html">Shawn Wu of Sterne Agee thinks that the iPhone 5 could be a “bigger upgrade than expected,” will have a larger screen, the same processor as the iPad 2, and will have the same form factor as the iPhone 4, but with a thinner bezel.

This might match a rumored iPhone 4S rather than a completely redesigned iPhone 5.

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster thinks the iPhone 5 could do as much as href="http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-20086831-37/analyst-iphone-5-could-double-apples-market-share">double Apple’s market share, and in a survey of 216 mobile phone users he found that people wanted a new iPhone — and that 42% of surveyed Android owners wanted to switch.

As always, analysts make their living by throwing darts at a list of events, and don’t take their word on anything.
