The Avengers Partly Shot On iPhone

One of next year’s blockbusters in the making is doubtless The Avengers, Marvel’s big superhero team mega-blockbuster directed by Joss Whedon. But did you know that at least part of it was filmed on the iPhone? Seriously, check out this little quote from cinematographer Seamus McGarvey:

“The beauty of photography or cinema is that you make every choice based on the content at hand. On The Avengers, I did a couple of shots on the iPhone and they are in the movie. In fact, they are in the trailer! I understand that sometimes there is no choice and you have to go for the cheapest option, but if you are limited for choice, you can still make poignant decisions that will effect the look of the film.”

Okay, we’ll give a no-prize to anyone who can figure out which of the bits in the trailer were shot on the iPhone, and can tell us how they did it. I’m guessing it’s not the bit with the exploding cars…
