I wouldn’t read too deeply into this, but T-Mobile’s new micro SIMs are being advertised as working with iOS devices. Billed as “Compatible with iPhones and iPads”, the SIMs are free on a two-year contract. Curiously, the ad copy even mentions that you can use it to activate an iPhone:
Already have a GSM phone or iPhone that you need to activate—or have an unlocked GSM phone you want to use on the T-Mobile network? Just get a Micro SIM card and choose a plan. Slip the ready-to-use Micro SIM Card into your phone and you’re ready to go.
To the best of my knowledge you can’t activate an iPhone on T-Mobile, and if you use an unlocked one, you’re stuck on Edge speeds anyway.
I wouldn’t go so far as to say this evidence of a T-Mobile iPhone, but it’s certainly interesting.
