Remember the href="http://www.everythingicafe.com/check-out-this-incredible-fake-apple-store-from-china/2011/07/20/">fake Apple stores that were spotted in China last month, which have href="http://www.everythingicafe.com/fake-chinese-apple-stores-shut-down/2011/07/25/">since been shut down? It looks like they’re part of a trend. Chinese authorities in the city of Kunming have href="http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/08/11/us-apple-china-fake-idUSTRE77A3U820110811">spotted another 22 fake Apple stores, and is making moves to shut them down. The stores have been ordered to stop using the Apple logo after complaints by Apple China, as Chinese law protects against using the “look and feel” of other companies’ stores.
It’s not known if most of these stores sold actual Apple products or cheap rip-offs.
China’s Administration for Industry and Commerce in Kunming has said it will set up a complain hotline, and will monitor stores more closely.
This is just one city that has gained international attention. Who wants to bet that there are a huge number of these stores in every large Chinese cities?
