Dalrymple: No iPhone 5 On September 7

Yesterday we reported on a rumor that Apple href="http://www.everythingicafe.com/iphone-5-announcement-to-happen-sept-7/2011/08/12/">would announce the iPhone 5 at an event on the 7th of September. Now Jim Dalrymple, arguably one of the best informed (and connected) Apple commenters href="http://www.loopinsight.com/2011/08/12/apple-will-not-hold-iphone-5-on-sept-7/">has shot this rumor down on no uncertain terms:

Reports began to surface yesterday that Apple would hold a special event on September 7 to launch the new iPhone, but that’s not happening.

According to my sources, Apple will not have an event or launch the next iPhone on September 7. It’s hard to say how that specific date was chosen by the sites that started the rumor, other than it fits into the timeline of previous Apple events.

Dalrymple’s sources are immaculate. Between him and Gruber, if they suggest something it’s probably happening, and if they flat our state it, you better believe it’s true.

What’s interesting here is that he only denied that one specific date, which means we may see an event somewhere around that time, just not on the 7th specifically.
