Analyst Eightball: Apple To Combine OS X and iOS By 2012

Yes, we know that Mac OS Lion has a strong iOS influence, but Jefferies & Co analyst Peter Misek thinks that Apple will actually href="http://www.everythingicafe.com/wp-admin/post-new.php">kill off OS X for iOS in the near future. Say what? He says “we believe Apple is looking to merge iOS (iPhones/iPads) with OS X (Macs) into a single platform for apps and cloud services starting in 2012-13.” This will be born on the back of an A6 chipset, which will be used for future generations of iPhones, iPads and Macs.

No. Just…no. This is pure scaremongering and FUD, and there hasn’t been any evidence that Apple is planning anything more than an aesthetic link between the two OSs. I’ll believe that this is happening when we see some evidence beyond the ramblings of an analyst.
