Want to see if you can upgrade without spending an arm and a leg? If you’re on AT&T, there’s a really simple way to see if you’re eligible to get the iPhone 5 upgrade when it comes out — especially if you bought the iPhone 4 at launch and aren’t sure. All you need to do is grab your iPhone, and dial *639#, and a message will be sent your way presently.style="text-align: left;">Even though I picked up the iPhone 4 on day one so shouldn’t be eligible for an upgrade yet, AT&T told me “as a valued customer, we can offer you an upgrade with a new 2-yr commitment and an 18 upgrade fee.” I’m guessing they’re just happy to get me signed up for an extra two years, and prevent any chance of me jumping ship to a different carrier.style="text-align: left;">For Verizon users, you can check out a guide on how to find out href="http://www.tuaw.com/2011/09/28/how-to-check-if-youre-eligible-for-an-iphone-upgrade/">over here at TUAW, but I believe you can dial #UPG (#874).style="text-align: left;">Are you already eligible? Will it change your plans to get an iPhone 5?
