If you’re on AT&T, there’s a really simple way to see if you’re eligible to get the iPhone 5 upgrade when it comes out — especially if you bought the iPhone 4 at launch and aren’t sure. All you need to do is grab your iPhone, and dial *639#, and a message will be sent your way presently.

style="text-align: left;">Even though I picked up the iPhone 4 on day one so shouldn’t be eligible for an upgrade yet, AT&T told me “as a valued customer, we can offer you an upgrade with a new 2-yr commitment and an 18 upgrade fee.” I’m guessing they’re just happy to get me signed up for an extra two years, and prevent any chance of me jumping ship to a different carrier.
