iOS 5.0.1 Update Causes iPhone 4S To Have Contacts Amnesia

The iOS 5.0.1 update released this week to combat battery issues, seems to have introduced a new bug that affects the contacts on the iPhone 4S. href="http://thestartupfoundry.com/2011/11/10/nasty-bug-in-ios-5-0-1-ota-update-screws-up-address-book-on-the-iphone-4s/">Paul Hontz noticed that upon sending an iMessage to a known contact, the Messages app would forget the name and instead list the phone number of the contact. The contacts remain, so the bug is that it fails to display the appropriate contact.

This bug seems to affect those on a Verizon iPhone 4S who updated to 5.0.1 using the OTA update. James Foster offers a partial fix that corrects incoming calls, but not messages.

Apple pushed href="http://www.everythingicafe.com/apple-releases-ios-5-0-1/2011/11/10/">iOS 5.0.1 after only two beta releases. The end result appears to be the introduction of this contacts bug and concerns that the update might not have solved the battery issues, evidenced by a href="http://www.everythingicafe.com/apple-keeps-looking-into-battery-issues-post-5-0-1/2011/11/11/">statement from Apple that they are continuing to investigate a few issues.

Having issues with your iPhone forgetting contacts? Is this affecting just Verizon iPhone 4S owners or is it more widespread?
