Yesterday href="http://www.everythingicafe.com/facebook-messenger-gets-released/2011/08/09/">saw the release of Facebook Messenger, the social networks attack on iMessages, BBM, SMS and every other text based communications tool on the planet. However, it seems there might be more to Messenger than is immediately apparent. href="http://9to5mac.com/2011/08/09/facebooks-messenger-app-hides-a-dirty-little-secret-video-chats">9to5Mac has gone nosing around inside the depths of the app, and found a whole bunch of resources pertaining to video calling.
While completely non-functional right now, it appears that this would work between iPhone and Android, and might have something to do with the recently announced Skype/Facebook deal.
So this app can send messages to Android and iPhone with push, to every other Facebook user in the world via Facebook Messages, to any other cellphone in the world with SMS, and will be able to do video chat? Looks like things just got serious!
