This delves pretty far into rumor territory, but could prove to be interesting. Peter Hajas is a developer who crafted the MobileNotifier app for jailbreakers, a complete notification redesign. However, a couple of weeks ago he quit the community and moved to California to start a new job — and there’s reason to think it may be with Apple. In a blog post about leaving, he said:
I can’t say why, but it’s worth it. Trust me. If you look around hard enough, you’ll probably figure it out.
I hope you guys understand, and I look forward to bringing you more awesome, great, free open source software in the future. Stay tuned for some amazing things!

Until then, stay hungry and stay foolish.
Stay hungry and stay foolish is phrase that Steve Jobs famously used at his Stanford Commencement Speech in 2005.
He also posted a now deleted tweet, where he said he was “off to work in CA for a “fruit” company.” If that isn’t a reference to Apple, I don’t know what is.
There’s no solid evidence, but we’re all hoping that this means a major notification redesign is in the works.
