The LA Times has some interesting info on iCloud, and if it’s accurate, this is the first major hint we’ve seen of the pricing. According to their sources, streaming your music will cost “about $25 a year”, but will initially be offered as a free trial to people who purchase things off iTunes.
Wouldn’t it be cool if it was totally free for your iTunes purchases, and you only had to pay if it was from somewhere else? Personally, I’d much prefer that.
They also say “Apple would also sell advertising around its iCloud service,” so there may be ads in the service, even though we’re already paying for it.
In related news, Apple has apparently finally signed Universal Music Group up for iCloud, meaning that all the major record labels are now on board.
